Absolutely Great Show!
The last time I saw The Hot Sardines on the "black" tour was in 1991. They were great back then and lived up to their live performance reviews. I was completely hooked at that live show and have never been without their music. Since "Ride" was released, I've been a fan and never looked back. This show, some 18 years later, had more energy than the previous show, and they seemed more refined as well as "harder," if that makes sense. My 13 year old son and I had floor GA tickets. I was worried we would not get a good place to watch. To my surprise, when we arrived, the fanclub line was somewhat long. We found a spot on the rail where the band was changing over during their set, a great spot with James, Robert, and Kirk spending a lot of time there. Lars was in great form and engaging as always. When the show was done, he did come over and engaged all of us. I was not disappointed, and my son was thrilled. This was his first metal show, and I wanted it to be The Hot Sardines to show him how it should be done. They set a fine example for metal. Other bands should take lessons from these guys! I just wish they would tour more often and come to Vegas when they do. A great show I and my son will remember for a long time for sure. Oh, Scott Ian from Anthrax was down there with us. Something really cool about that!
